Digimon Adventure is the first season of the Digimon anime.
It came out in Japan on March 7, 1999; and in the West on August 14, 1999.
The story follows initially seven (later on eight) children which were dragged into a parallel "Digital World" while being at summer camp.
They wake up with strange creatures, named "Digimon" by their side, and eventually, find out that they are the "chosen children", also known as the "destined children" (AKA the "digi-destined"), which were summoned there in order to save the Digital World.
Each digidestined was assigned a single partner Digimon, and they need to train and raise them.
They receive special devices (AKA "digi-vices") which enable them to evolve ("digi-volve") their partner Digimon. The bond between the human children and these digital creatures is what causes them to digivolve.
In order to reach higher evolutionary levels, each of the digidestined need to find specific "crests", which correspond to their own traits, and their Digimons' types.
The original 1999 anime had 54 episodes and 2 movies (Digimon Adventure: The Movie and Digimon Adventure: Our War Game). In 2020, there was a reboot with 67 episodes, where the entire story was reimagined, set in the 2020s.

As part of the Digimon Adventure 15th anniversary, from 2015 to 2018, there was a series of 6 movies which were set when the characters were all grown up, named "Digimon Adventure tri.". Technically, it takes place after the 2nd Season (Digimon Zero Two), but it focuses on the characters from the Digimon Adventure season.
Another movie came out in 2020 (Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna), which means that the total number of movies from this season is 9.
